The YMCA is directly across the street from Auckland Central Fire Station. It turns out the alarm panel is down Greys Ave to the right. It would have been quicker to walk, but oh well, gotta follow procedure! At that time of the morning, it was most likely just burnt toast setting off the smoke alarm anyway...Auckland 207:2004 Scania P94DBPump/Rescue TenderPapatoetoe 345:(Relieving Auckland 205)1981 Mack MCE685Aerial Platform08:43, 15 September, 2006YMCA, corner Pitt Street & Greys AveAuckland, New ZealandReference:www.111emergency.co.nz

Who is "we"? In 1981, the North Americans mostly had "gumballs" and lightbars, the rest of the world mostly had single lens beacons, and Aussie and NZ had a mixture. Ever been to MOTAT? I'm glad the NZFS did their own thing rather than copying the US or the UK, it means we have an incredible variety of equipment for such a small country. But I'm getting tired of this pointless little argument. Daring to be different from the US isn't a crime, but the way YouTubers go on, you start to wonder...

Wrong. they were not standard equiptment around the world in the 70's and 80's. We had gumballs back then, E.g. Michigan State Tropers.

Those small beacons were standard equipment on most "fire trucks" around the world in the 70s and early 80s. I don't control how the NZFS fits out their "appliances", or what they call them, so if you don't like these vids, you're more than welcome to look elsewhere.

Could they have put smaller light beacons on that Mack Aerial? There are goal lights in the NHL areans that are brighter then that. I am really struggling to enjoy any "appliance" from NZ. Small little European toy trucks with weird sirens, whimpy horns and weak light beacons. Give me a huge North American Fire Truck with a horn and light show to match. Oh, and they're not appliances, they're fire trucks. An appliance is something you plug into your wall like a dishwasher.

Yeah Melbourne's appliances are quite similar to ours in graphics etc. No real need for aerials out in the 'burbs or rural areas, all ours are based in the built-up or industrial areas in the bigger cities.

australias trucks ar the same as the first one in this vid i think there even the same paint job but they do have differnt sirens and red, blue, amberand white lights, also the comand centre trucks are all bright yellow, we have very few ladders over here i only know of two or three and there in brisbane witch i dont go there much. only mojor cites have ladders

That Mack looks weird full stop, LOL! NZ fire trucks are kinda halfway between American and European ones, so they look weird to everyone!
