it's the descriminative people this really boils! Personally, I don't care what he belives as long as he does good job for this country and protects my rights as a citizen. Him being a muslium might be good for congress. At least he won't be out getting high with hookers all day long! hahahahah

If Keith Ellison took his oath of office on the Qur'àn, he would have been swearing allegiance to the Qur'àn.So, I guess the flip-side would also have been true:If Keith Ellison took his oath of office on the Bible, he would have been swearing allegiance to the Bible. But why did they make a different assumption claiming that had he do the later, he'd be swearing allegiance to the Constitution of the U.S. The Constitution is not in the Bible!!Talk about IDIOTS!!I'm glad for him!

How could it not define him as a politican? Islam is politics! I don't care that he will make his decisions based on his faith, Christians do the same thing. I just hate when they lie about it to fit "MIddle America's" agenda. Why is America so scared of outside faiths? They're all the same anyway. Even in the bible it states that there are many ways towards the Universal Faith.

Why would he sworn on The Bible? It deosn't make sence. Swearing on The Quran makes him truethful about what he says.

of course jews like joe liberman swears on the bible, hello the old testament? the old testament is a part of the jewish belief.

why would Keith need to swear on the bible when he doesnt believe it to be sacred? thats the most retarded thing i ever heard. if he swears on the bible to uphold the constitution, doesnt it lessen the validity of his oath? one should use the book he/she holds sacred in their own religion.
arafiq786 (January 1, 1970 at 7:29 am)
For crying out loud he has ever right to pick the book he wants to swear in on...this is his and every American's right.
arafiq786 (January 1, 1970 at 7:29 am)
By the same token when a Christian swears over the bible does that mean he is swearing in on the Bible? Please this is a clear case of double standard and racial/ethnic/religous discrimination. Ellison has every right to swear in on any book he likes. These are unalienable rights attributed to him, and all Americans under the Constitution.
