my guess would be because the makers only wanted to use surnames and not first names and didnt want to have "brunson" twice thinking it might confuse some people. So they went with Doyle, which is kinda a no brainer. But like i said its only a guess

It's because of his character. It doesn't go with commercials or intros or anything like it. He doesn't give a damn about things with no importance, like image, and he's not a prostitute...if I were to guess.
