Tutti possono commentare, solo che lui pensava che si trattasse di un'aria d'opera, non aveva capito che e' una canzone contemporanea da cantare in modo espressivo.

You judge the voice, not the art. Pavarotti has never been expressive,a good actor. In later years he became much better, though. But Dalla is not to be judged by tenor standards. He was a "cantautore", a category where expression counts more than everything. If you listen to Dalla singing the whole song himself, for instance here (search for "Lucio Dalla - Caruso" and choose the one by pinki80") you'll see what I mean.
