well not reeeeeeeeeally i mean lou reed was before him with his three chord mind blowing songs and is proably the soul reason why jonathan richman started making music, he claims to of been to more VU concerts then the band themself, and before VU there was chuck berry making the 3 chord raw rock n roll. noone really is the definitive father of punk rock, it was spawned out of the many contributions from people over a span of decades. -lights briar pipe and breaths in the crispy tobbaco-

Just reminding folks this, while this album was RELEASED in 1976, this song was recorded in 1971! These early punk recordings were MIND-BLOWINGLY ahead of their time. Yes, Stooges and VU were obvious inspiration, but, hey, who's keeping track? If Richman had stayed on this track, he's be forever remembered as PUnk'S TRUE pioneer.

One of the best songs ever made. Although the 3 chord simplicity was from The Stooges, who were punk before there was punk, check out I Wanna Be Your Dog

Sometimes a band is able to capture a time, place, and sound so well that everything else it trys to do just seems like a waste.
