maybe there had been a fighting style in india at the time of alexander the great.but the roots of pankration were used centuries before.the spartans ware trained in this fighting style long before alexanders conquest of india.

Cool. Never even heard of this style before. It adds more detail to Greek/Macedonian ancient civilization. I wonder if European knights developed their own martial art style as well. I've heard absolutely nothing about their unarmed fighting techniques.

MMA?

Actually, Pankration predates the idea of "MMA" which has become a misnomer in and of itself.

So - fights without rules (but with warrior codex and attitude) - it was common part in kshatriya lifes during the peace time. Story about Sri Krishna fighting Kamsas "champs" without no rules - is only one of many evdences. Lets see the thrue.

there is not the question about the roots. There is a question about ideology. Ideology, that "Alexander the great took the original pankration to india". And such ideology is complete nonsenss. Cuz in ancient vedic culture long before all the "great" "alexanders" from "west" was highly developed martial art science. SCIENCE - not only sport or some styles, but science - what was settled deep in the culture.

I'm not going to argue with you anymore, either, because you at least used a logical argument this time, so I can respect that. I just wanted to make a comment on how you were freaking out over something that it sounds like you misunderstood. I never heard the current pankrationists claim to have invented MMA, all I heard was the supposition that the Greeks under Alexand might have brought martial arts to the east. Commendations on 10 years of thai boxing - it takes discipline. Calm down though.

As for personal attacks and character attacks, all I can say is: you started it in your unsolicited comment, so if you can't take the inevitable come back, maybe you should stop tapping at your keyboard. The attack is on the bogus claims of a small sub-group of martial artists based in Greece (not martial arts per se or Greeks) and some dubious editorial decisions in an otherwise entertaining show. I do not want to waste any more time on some Yank, teenage fratboy (well done on that black belt) |
