Keaggy himself said that he didn't even record at Hendrix's studio until after Hendrix was dead. Another great guy who has played with Keaggy is Dave Beegle, both his solo stuff and his band Fourth Estate, he also gets way too little recognition.

research urban myths and I think you will find the Keaggy/Hendrix claim listed. Nevertheless, Keaggy is off the chart and should get way more recognition than he does... both in and out of CCM. Definately the best in my book.

If you look for a Rolling Stone article in 1973 with Jimmy Hendrix, he's asked, "What does it feel like to be the greatest guitar player on earth?" His reply was, "I don't know, ask Phil Keaggy." No lie ... look it up.

Most all top level professional guitarists are familiar with PK, his style and his work. One reason he's not more widely known in the mainstream world is he focuses most all of his energy on inspirational music and in today's world that's gonna get ya zippo airtime.
