So when does it get funny? I like Carlin, but he just kind of cameo'd and lectured.

Anyways, I have to get to dinner - but if you want to respond further please do; I am finding value in this conversation. Whenever you can find a conversation with someone of opposing viewpoint, and it remains civil - I think that has the potential for value and insight for both sides. So, thank you, in that regard.

And ultimately,as someone who views the bible the same way I'm sure you view the "holy text" of every other religion, I consider it to be purely the work of men.Not that it doesn't have some wisdom in it, but I believe in questioning its moral conclusions. And based on the fact that christians (rightly, imo) dismiss the passages supporting slavery and such, I think that really we all actually employ secular morality - some of us just justify our positions by taking quotes from the bible.

I think this highlights the key difference between secular and religious morality. Religious morality, at least from my perspective, appears to be morality based on "what this book says is moral/immoral".Secular morality, tends to be more, "does it seem right or wrong to you"? Rationalize it, think about what the effects are. What's the harm, what's the benefit?

"idk hermaphrodites have my sympathy.... i dont know what to say..... what would you say?"I honestly don't have any problem with what people do sexually as long as its consensual and noone/nothing is harmed. If a hermaphrodite, a transexual, and an android want to dance naked while rubbing salsa on each others head, it's ... well, it's undoubtedly weird, but I don't see who it hurts, so I can't say I can claim it to be "immoral".

In case you feel uncomfortable respond to that, I'll say something else as well. P)As far as "inalienable rights" go,I'd say I'd prefer living with some. When you say "God Given", again, I think a diplomatic way to say it is that I do have a god ... he just can't hear me, doesn't have a brain, and so forth. He's some system to be understood rather than some enigmatic person to be attempted to be begged for favor or whose wishes are to take presidence over my personal, rational sense of ethics

a secular argument.... i dont think so... but wouldnt homosexuality spread aids more if u wnt make it a health issue.....i think... i could be wrongidk hermaphrodites have my sympathy.... i dont know what to say..... what would you say?ppl may be born gay..... they might become gay overtime...... they may switch from gay to straight..... they might be born bi ...etc.

I wasn't going to bring up abortion. Here's some questions, and I put these forth mostly out of curiosity. You don't have to answer if you don't want. Can you put forth a secular argument against homosexuality? If you remove the idea of "god" from the equation, can you make an argument for why it should be deemed "immoral"?Do you believe that hermaphrodites should be able to fall-in-love/mate with anyone? No matter who it is, it's always a little gay, no? Do you believe people areborn gay?
