In 1804 Dessalines found it necessary to reassure nations other than France and Spain that Haiti posed no threat to the security of their colonies. The constitution of May 1805 confirmed this assurance to foreign powers: 'The emperor will not undertake any enterprise with a view to making conquests or to troubling the peace and internal regime of foreign colonies.'

Yet despite these assurance on part of Dessalines, the mere existence of an independent black state which had achieved liberation by a violent struggle against a white colonial administration posed a threat to other nations. 'The existence of a negro people in arms', wrote Talleyrand to General Louis Turreau in Washington,'occupying a country which it has soiled by the most criminal acts, is a horrible spectacle for all white nations.' Haiti was regarded as the symbol of black dignity&human equl

The oppressed wants to become the oppressor to his own people. When you attempt that you dishonor your self and your ancestors one thousand times.Don't shame yourself and fall prey to propaganda.Kind Regards,Printo1

Please people, the only revolution I advocate is waking up and loving your self and culture. Embrace all cultures, just don't trade yours in. Peace & Love To All

You have a serious argument friend, but the truth of the matter is, black people are easily manipulated. If you don't stand for something you fall for any thing. Black people fall for any thing. The west divide the blacks, because of centuries of research they realize it's the easiest race to conquer through propaganda and religion.

The colonial countries never stop their best to keep Haiti divided so they can show the world that the first black independent country in the world can not survive in peace and harmony. Do you remember that there was an agreement between CARICOM (All the Caribbean countries) and the first democratically and constitutionally elected president of Haiti Jean-Beratrand Aristide. Bush sided with the criminals, thugs and rapists instead of supporting the agreement to bring all Haitians together. |
