I have a lot of memories from the age 5, I think I even remember something from the time I was 2, so it's really not so amazing that she remembers, especially if it was extreme been pain that lasted for days.

Having read her book I believe that the process of FGM must be so horific so as u could never forget it, regardless of age- be it 2, 5 or 25.Another possibility is maybe she wasnt 5 when it happened...she could have been 7 or 8, as the nomadic lifestyle doesn't allow for surveilance of time.The main aim is just to have a supply of water +stay alive.The only celebratory occasions are weddings and rainfalls. So is it not quite possible that she may have gotten her age wrong??
