Privatization & Globalization (Ayn Rand / Ron Paul)

Before you prod on about corporatism...It doesn't take corporatism for three mom & pop businesses to form de facto cartels and control a small town. We must be as protected from government control as from private, unelectable control. I'm a Ron Paul supporter, but I'm no fan of rampant privatization. Ayn Rand knew nothing of the globalization that is upon us. Privatization coupled w/ globalization is simply dictatorship by foreign, phantom, unelectable boards of directors. Privatization + globalization allows for companies like Bechtel to troll the planet, prey on poor countries, privatize their natural resources and pollute the rest while extolling the virtues of employment for a few underpaid workers.Globalization + privatization allows for the possibility of a UAE national company to purchase America's ports... from a British company.Rampant, Rand privatization allows for private individuals to 'own' our natural resources. Unelectable boards of directors, particularly those w/ foreign interests, should not be allowed to control our water, energy and oil. A bunch of nouveau riche hicks shouldn't have been in such a position to tinker w/ California's energy as did those at Enron. I'm all for doing away with the IRS and the Fed. I'm all for ditching the war on drugs. I'm all for giving power to the states. These, alone, are sufficient reasons to vote for Ron Paul. However, I don't agree w/ anyone on everything. I'm not a follower looking for a leader. Discernment is key. We need to beware of those who blindly agree w/ everything anyone says.. and those who blindly believe anything that is published.Okay... I'm done. ;-)ourearthhome says:Privatization is the continuation of colonialism's legacy of land and natural resources monopoly which is the major cause of poverty and the disparity of wealth in 3rd world countries. If you can get people to agree that you can charge them for access to their own planet they are your slaves. To the extent that privatization continues to make private the earth that belongs to all and the economic values created by all, i.e. land values, it is merely the new colonialism. It started at home.

Keep thinking, and read some more of her work!

Fair can only be what is voluntarily agreed to by both parties - buyer and seller alike.
Sideshowbobx (January 1, 1970 at 7:29 am)
Whop!but on 3. - fair is what the consumer (citizen) dictates and no one else, no gov nor any producer;) if the gov gets into the market you will end up with "black markets" to feed the needs of the consumer and if a producer tries to dictated prices consumers should have the freedom to wonder off to the competition and ruin the crock messing with the market. ;)

Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" is one of my favorite books. I'm with you. I don't necessarily agree with everything she says but she makes you think!
philosophyarchitect (January 1, 1970 at 7:29 am)
1. That disproves nothing of what she said, even if it were true.2. The depression is explained in Objectivist essays and the US never had lf capitalism.3. "Fair" = what the government dictates, not what the producer dictates, then?

Love your vids, love having my mind stimulated. Interesting views. But I though Ron Paul was some gay dude in entertainment? I just researched him, and apparently he's a texas senator running for president. I guess two guys have the same name.

I think you have a good head on your shoulder's, ProteanView. There are fundamental differences in the structure of things since Ayn Rand's day. I don't like the way corporations can behave without being held accountable. I also don't like the fact that I can't defend myself if I can't afford it. Most people don't seem to be able to afford to defend themselves against the fortunes of corporations. And I don't like the way corporations can protect themselves by headquartering on foreign soil.

johnnyahah37: I see yer still trying to suck the last drop of juice out of Friedman's icy-cold corpse cock. Heh, heh. So, you think poor people got that way because they're lazy or it's gawds will---typical simplistic disproven randroid "thinking"---based on faith and not facts. I provided the samples you asked for, chump. I can't do anything about your mental deficiencies and emotional problems. Believe what you want. But know this, yer a greedy self-centered scumbag. No way around that.

Pathetic income? Sucker? I get it...you are the lazy person not working hoping to get more money out of my pocket. People like you make me laugh. Can't wait to cough up $800+ billion to the Global Poverty Fund. That sounds like a great use of my tax dollars.
