ReconTeam111,It is a fact that practically every American serviceman who was ever captured and then tortured is opposed to the use of torture for one very simple reason -- it is completely ineffective, and the information obtained is worthless.The Gestapo, of course, tortured members of the Resistance and captured OSS agents not so much for the intelligence data as because they were sadistic lunatics who just really enjoyed inflicting pain on helpless people. Americans would not so that....

ReconTeam111, "You know they are terrorists when you have captured them fighting as illegal combatants..."Leaving aside the entirely specious definition of what exactly constitutes an "illegal combatant" for the moment, your remark accounts for about 5% of the detainees -- what about the other 95%? Is it ethical to torture people who were captured while on vacation in Jordan or Pakistan? How about people abducted from their jobs in Germany? Doctors from Los Angeles? Where does it end?

No. You know they are terrorists when you have captured them fighting as illegal combatants, and trying to kill our soldiers and civilians on the front lines. Once again I believe that "torture" should only be used in dire situations when it can save lives. What if one of those lives is somebody you know Wolverine? I don't support physical torture either.
