I am not an opera expert but I think I am not an ignorant either; in fact, I don't think these things are a matter of knowledge but of feeling. I had to choose one of the many versions of this scenes available here at YTb. No matter the technical flaws it may have, this one is the one that IMHO transmits better the dramatism of the scene; even the sometimes broken voice of the soprano helps in that. BTW, however famous it may be, I don't like Callas interpretation, too baroque in my opinion...

hi francescoI am a Callas's fan, but I think that you are right. Not only those sopranos that you mencioned have more beautiful voice than Maria, many of them have it too, but we have to look at her as an artistic fenomeno, like she was or is. In my opinion, her main constribution is the interpretation, and i that my friend, she is and she will be the best. Regards, ernesto.
