I like how Hyuga, Maya, Long-Haired Guy, and Fuyustuki are there observing the process through the end. It gives a sense of continuity and perspective; the series has centered around this control room since the beginning; they've been observing and anouncing everything that touched the science or soul of the series. And now, as things change so fast, they're still there commentating.I like how they see the earth below them as they rise, too. It's like, "Damn, I guess we're going up!".
