I pictured hooper as a young guy, kind of like Matthew Broderick or something. Or Kenneth from 30 Rock. :)

I really hate crap like this. Shark isn't a killer machine, just a very intelligent fish. Is it the worlds best fitting animal, it havent changed for about 40 million years. Don't misunderstand the most powerful animal in the world. Because is it not the most dangerous, that title is ours.

Yep. I'm not sure Brodie beats the shark to the kill, but the suggestion is that he's not too fussed he gives Hooper a headshot whether he's still alive or not. Jaws is a good example where the film is better than the book. No matter what intricate relationships the book has, it doesn't have the..... Duuhh Duh.....Duuuuuuhhh Duh..... Duh Duh Duh Duh Duh Duh Duh Duh..Duddah DAHHH!

so Hooper dies in the book

I read it a long time ago, but I think it gets trapped in the boat and drowns. Hooper has an affair with Brodies wife and Brodie shoots Hooper in the head (accidently on purpose) while he's in the sharks mouth.

Just sinks to its death, which is why they decided to blow it up.I could also suggest finding a copy of the book and flipping to the last few pages(kidding)
