Awe inspiring. Al and Joe and Steve and ...wow..Al's whole body is in it, man. HE is the instrument..Love it. Thanks for posting. had to watch it twice. It was Al Jarreau that turned me on to Bill Withers with his early tribute album of Wither's work. Thanks for the tip, Al. Been loving you both ever since.

Don't know if I already posted this: Funny thing is that the groove has a lot of samba influence. Steve Gadd's pickup f. ex. after the drum solo is 100% samba. Sure this is a mix of jazz-fusion, with afro-cuban and brazilian groove. Just find it curious, since the title is "Spain". Not saying they should have pulled of a flamenco. As it is, it is untouchable. And I love Al Jarreau. Anything he does on stage is not about him but about the music. Pure class and talent.

Steve Gadd makes me sick! And Joe Sample had me on the floor cowling in the fetal position.I should've through the flag on the play when I first saw all these cats together. It's illegal to have Al Jarreau together with these guys.Best vid I've seen in a long time! |
