Actually you're wrong. In some cases, yes the way the kick is performed is completely powerless. But the spins actually help the kicking leg gain momentum and allows it to strike harder at the target. As long as you've got aim, the person will go down.

I got into a fight with a TKD guy once at a party, he started to show off and threw a fancy kick. It caught me off guard and it hit me in the side of the head. I'm sure it would have been powerful, but....You see unlike a pad or punching dummy, a human moves. You can send a dummy/pad across the room, but even if you do catch another person with a fancy kick, they're already in movement, plus they probably have a hand up to stop it as well (he hit my arm first before my head) |
