He was a self taught musical student who WAS trying to different. :PBut the melody is nice. The feel is nice. And the conclusion is brilliant. Can't be TOO experimental, man.

come on!! its just a bit to experimental. sounds like a a music student trying a bit too hard to be different. tubular bells 2 "the bell" is so much better. just because its mike oldfield dosnt mean we cant be critical.

Riight. This was the first Tubular Bells. The sensation of prog rock. This was Mike's first opus. This was his masterpiece. He still uses the melodies from the first one. ...Not a very good one..Riiight.

"Two slightly distorted guitars"?? Sounds like heavy a square-wave fuzz pedal to me!But I love the melody and the funky rhythm pattern underneath. The little mistakes here and there are a hoot!
