All these ideologies from left to right wing cant be taken in their pure form. It has to have a part of everything. Why people in the states should pay for healthcare??? The Bush administration have put about millions of billions dollars into war and in the FED (private Central bank BTW), which is enough money to avoid poverty all around the world. All that money has been spent in only 8 years. All that money is serving private interests, no way it is serving the American people.

Socialism originally means that people take care of others, not only themselves. On the other hand, people should grow up to this system. Not enough to talk about, but to do for that. Since people are selfish, socialism doesn't work. Not to mention capitalism is a wrong system, but at least ... works. Serious thing, to avoid savage capitalism.

You do not speak for today's Democratic Socialists; their party platforms do my friend, read them. Until you do, you are just spouting garbage. A pure market society is as utopian and nutty as a pure communist society, neither functions with adequate protection to the individual. Also, you pick and chose your Marx, read Marx and Engels after the 1848 revolutions as I suggested. Effective, "Free Trade" today is killing millions with price controls on HIV medications, or Free Market Genocide.

Democratic socialism is a paradox. Sure Marx predicted that a state would become socialist through a democratic process but when it is socialist it is no longer democratic and socialism of any form uses violence and coercion.and the flexibility you talk about is impractical because there is no way a single entity can process the vast amounts of information that are required to make solutions which markets are remarkably effective and efficient at doing.

Neither Stalinist Russia nor Maoist China or todays China represent Socialism in any form what so ever. Totalatarian governance is incompatabal with the Socialist ideal. Both Marx and Engles post 1848 denounced violent revolution and spoke of democracy as the way. Socialism today is a democratic movement that demands social justice. It is scientificly flexible since no single solution will meet any communities individual needs. It was the Socialists who de-centralized France for example.

i guess your from europe or canada, well i dont know how much you pay but i can bet that you wont get anywhere near the quality of healthcare in the usa. our healthcare is inefficient because it is loaded with bureaucracy and regulation.and lenninism and maoism are forms of marxism.history has proven that socialism is doomed to fail.
Bassmaster86 (January 1, 1970 at 7:29 am)
you have no idea what you are talking about- one small example- you pay far more my friend for private healthcare than I do for social healthcare. The US has the most ineffecient healthcare system in the west. Also- russia and china were not marxist they were leninist and maoist respectivley- all you are doing is spouting neoliberal rhetoric
pkenans (January 1, 1970 at 7:29 am)
what?socialism is socialism regardless of how the theory is derived.russia and china have proven that marxist socialism doesnt work.the benifits of capitalism far outweigh its disadvantages and is much more fundamentally progressive than socialism.i dont think klein talked that much about disaster socialsim and the shock effect that has brought about massive regulation, gov spending throughout history.only a very small part of industrialized nations like usa are corrupt unlike smaller nations. |
