I don't think it is. But if you have an issue as to why certain people think Jack is a whiny version of Robert Plant, take it to a guitar website forums where arguments abound. You won't be disappointed with the influx of rich opinion there.

no he uses the digitech whammy pedal that drops his guitar down one octave which makes it sound like a bass, and then in the chorus and solo he simply turns off the whammy pedal and turns on his distortion pedal

the only guitar part in the studio version of the song is in the chorus and in the solo, the rest is bass...but live he plays acoustic guitar instead of bass, then hits a distortion pedal for the chorus and solo
