10 Not only that, but Rebekah's children had one and the same father, our father Isaac. 11Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God's purpose in election might stand: 12not by works but by him who calls—she was told, "The older will serve the younger." 13Just as it is written: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." God said this many years after, not before their birth. Election has to do with purpose, not salvation as we see here.

Reformed theology ignores the Gospel which is the power of God, focusing on an imagined time when God SUPPOSEDLY "elected" some to salvation and some to Hell by default. The Gospel itself brings light to the sinner and enables faith in ANYONE who hears it. Faith is not a work since Romans 4 makes it clear that Abraham believed God and was justified by faith WITHOUT works.

And where did this yielding of the heart come from? Where did the desire for Christ remembrance come from? The conviction Jesus is the Son of God? It is all revelation of God - and it is written that it is Jesus who chooses to reveal the Father to whom he pleases.

Please, I am not a Biblical scholar, but I have read through the Bible many times. From the passage of the theif on the cross, I percieve that our hearts can yield at any time, even unto the time of death, that our salvation dependent upon the yielding of man's heart, and asking of salvation "Remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom" I do not question the sovereignty of God. But this episode seems to negate election and support the yielding of a formally rebellious heart.

Could it be that, God in His sovereignty, knew that one thief would reject, and also that the other would accept Jesus as Lord and Savior? There are many object lessons we could extrapolate from this bit of scripture, such as the fact that there was apparently no formal baptism performed for the one He saved, but yet saved him anyway. Also no mention of purgatory, etc.But one thing we cannot deny was that on that day as any other, God was and is in control.

Firstly why did u trim the Bible,if u cling to the full canon w/c is the Catholics',ur faith will dwindle,u based ur canon to that of the christian hating jewish rather than to the Septuagint w/c is in use in times of Jesus.U claim Jesus did not make any reference to those contested books,if they r wrong Jesus should had refuted those books becoz ignoring the mistake is partaking in the mistake, did it looked ironic to u?

My friend, first of all, both thiefs did not experience Christ in the same way. The fact that both saw Jesus doesnt mean that they experienced the same thing. The first answer I always get when I expose this truth is: " so you mean that we can sin all we want and still be saved?" This shows that you dont understand what the election of God is. God will finish the good work he starded. No man that can persist in sin can be a son of God. |
